Гы, у меня тоже такое бывает за год не раз. В прошлом году был рекорд - 3-е суток без света. Представляете, какое благо для Земли! А все потому, что живем в частном доме, и иногда из-за сильного снегопада или дождя обрывает провода)))

Barbra Streisand has joined Edward Norton's Crowdrise online fundraising community to raise money for a US heart charity, and will match donations up to $5 million.
“The work of the Women’s Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is vital," says the singer and actress. "Did you know that heart disease takes the lives of more women than all cancers combined? Can you imagine? I was so surprised when I learned this.
“The symptoms of a heart attack are often different in women than in men. But for decades, women have been treated for cardiovascular disease based on medical research done on men.
“How is this possible? Women are different physiologically from men—and we are paying a terrible price for this knowledge gap. Because of these staggering statistics, I am committed to taking on this epidemic, and I need all of your help. I hope to raise $10M dollars (of which I will match up to $5M) for research, treatment and education on women’s heart disease.”
Next February, Barbra will be honored as MusiCares' Person of the Year for her charity work.

Ewan McGregor will host a very special charity event in Beverly Hills on Thursday, November 18.
The third annual Go Go Gala will benefit the Go Campaign, an organization dedicated to empowering orphans and vulnerable children throughout the world to secure a better future. The Go Campaign is a youth-driven nonprofit that cuts out the red tape and provides a direct connection to deserving grass-roots organizations serving children in need.
The Go Go Gala will feature musical guests Foreigner, and will honor the founders of FEED – Laura Bush and Ellen Gustafson. The host committee includes Edward Norton, Toni Collette, Evangeline Lilly and Sophia Bush.
Cocktails begin at 7pm, dinner at 8pm, and the event takes place at the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills. More information can be found here.

Actor Edward Norton founded the website Crowdrise.com, in an effort to make charity giving fun and supportive. Just reading various tabs on the website itself gives you the idea that it is not your average, everyday charity website. Rather, it’s Edward Norton’s way of making the idea of charity giving less boring, especially for the Gen X and Gen Y groups.

On Saturday (July 30), a galaxy of stars headed to the Hamptons for Russell Simmons's annual Art for Life charity event. The benefit -- which was hosted by Soledad O'Brien and featured performances from Jennifer Hudson, among others -- raised $1 million for arts education and gallery programs that directly benefit 2,300 students each year.
Also on hand, Taraji P. Henson, Kimora Lee Simmons (Russell's ex) and Edward Norton -- an honoree -- who tells Zap2it he recognizes the importance of arts education.
"I thinks arts education is our country's intellectual baseline," says Norton.
According to organizer Simmons, the country just isn't doing enough to expose kids to the arts in school.
"The imagination is everything, kids struggle and they need to exercise those creative muscles as much as you can," Simmons tells Zap2it. "We have to supplement every area of education but especially the arts."

Birthday Boy Norton Urges Fans To Help Raise Funds For Charity
Environmental activist Edward Norton is asking fans to donate to a Kenyan conservation charity instead of sending him gifts to mark his birthday on Thursday.
The Fight Club star turned 42 today and he has been urging devotees to follow his birthday wishes and pledge money to the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Fund to help him reach his goal of $10,000 (£6,250).
In a post on his Twitter.com page, Norton wrote, "Thanks for all the nice messages. People have been asking what I want for my birthday...", before adding a link to CrowdRise.com, the fundraising website he founded in 2009.
A message from the actor, posted on the website, reads: "My birthday is on August 18th and I've sniffed out that some friends might be looking to get me a present so I'm gonna nip that in the bud right now.
"I don't want anything. Well, that's not strictly true but I don't want any Things. Like stuff. Don't need it. Have too much.
"Here's what would make me really happy about marking another year (and a few gray hairs): Support for this fantastic organization: the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. This is an effort I've worked very hard to support for many years and that inspires me...so nothing would make me happier than having friends join me on my birthday in backing our work."
The birthday boy had raised just under $4,000 (£2,500) as WENN went to press.
Norton ran the New York City Marathon in 2009 and raised $300,000 (£187,500) for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Fund, which aims to protect the east African grasslands which the Maasai tribe calls home. »

Norton will not participate in the run this year, but he's invited his volunteers to join him for a meal ahead of the race, which takes places in the Big Apple in November. He says, "The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust is an organisation I care about deeply. I've been involved with the Mwct for over 10 years. In 2009, 29 other runners and I ran the New York Marathon to raise money for the Mwct and the campaign was a success... we raised over $1.2 million. "The money we raise is used to protect the legendary ecosystems and astounding biodiversity of East Africa through conservation that directly benefits local Maasai communities." Norton is also promising special gifts to fans who donate money to the cause: "If you donate $30 to any of our Mwct Runners right now, you'll automatically win a Crowdrise tee (T-shirt)!"
